Pebble Time raises over $9 million on Kickstarter campaign

Most Kickstarter campaigns don’t work out this well.

Pebble Time, the successor to the Pebble & Pebble Steel smartwatches, was able to hit its US$500,000 goal in 17 minutes and also hit the US$2M mark in less than an hour on its crowdsourced Kickstarter campaign. The new wearable is touting a color e-paper display and microphone for responding to notifications.

It also has features Pebble users are already familiar with, such as seven days of battery life, water resistance, and an extensive library of watch faces and apps.

The campaign currently stands at over US$9M in donations with 30 days to go.

It’s hard to say how this will affect Apple Watch sales, but wearables are the in thing now and Pebble Time just did extremely well for itself and its efforts.

If you’ve tinkered with a Pebble Time smartwatch and have any feedback to offer, please let us know what you thought of it in the comments.
