The Audiovox 9155GPX is a CDMA tri-mode (800 MHz CDMA, 1900 MHz PCS and 800 MHz AMPS), Web-enabled, 1XRTT capable handset (up to 115 kbps) equipped with the MSM5100 chipset that has Bluetooth capability and gpsOne(TM)-based position location.
Enhanced 911 service (a.k.a. E911) was mandated by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to be included in all cell phones sold in the United States by the end of 2002. 2600 magazine ran an excellent article on “the future of enhanced 911” (Winter 2001-2002, p.11) but it is not yet available online.
