Play it Louder with New Yamaha USB Speakers

Another newsworthy tidbit from the USB Workshop, this time about Yamaha announcing a new set of USB speakers. The YST-MS35D speaker system is a three piece deally with a few nice touches such as a master volume and bass control.

YST-MS35D also offers advantages usually found in more expensive units. Yamaha’s exclusive Advanced Active Servo Technology system for rich, deep bass; pure spruce-cone diaphragms for clarity; and angle-adjustable satellite speakers that produce good highs. This speaker delivers sound from 20 kHz down to 45 Hz. Its 5-in., 18-watt subwoofer and its 2-in., six-watt satellites are all magnetically shielded. The system connects to computers equipped with the Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard, and comes with its own driver software. For non-USB users, the YST-MS35 offers the dual-stereo-mini-plug connection.

The YST-MS35 can be had in exotic-sounding-yet-plain flavors such as Platinum White and Calypso Black when it ships later this month for about US$100.
