Poll: How's the 10.5.3 Update Working for You?
30 May 2008 02:45 EST
Chris Barylick
On Thursday, Apple released the long-awaited Mac OS X 10.5.3 update. The update, which weighed in as a 190 to 500+ megabyte download in some cases, contained an assortment of fixes, many of which had been clamored for by Mac OS X 10.5.2 uses.
Here on the PowerPage, 10.5.3 has been installed and nothing's melted down yet.
At least for now.
And so the question falls to you; what's gone right, what's gone wrong and how is one of the largest updates in Apple's history working out for you after the first 24 hours since its release?
As always, let us know what's going on, positive or negative, over in the comments or forums.

Poll: Has the Aluminum iMac Screen Freeze Bug Been Resolved?
10 December 2007 08:27 EST
Chris Barylick
This moves outside the purview of mobile technologies a little bit, but it's important: Since its release, the aluminum iMac has received both positive feedback as well as become synonymous with a intermittently-occurring screen freeze bug. The problem has surfaced under both the Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 operating systems and spawned a wide number of theories as to the underlying problem, including driver software and the ATI graphics cards used in the machines themselves.
Apple, in return, has issued a number of firmware updates designed to resolve the problem.
Our question to you is this: have these updates worked and, if so, how effectively?
Here's the poll and if you have anything else to add, let us know in the comments or forums:

Poll: iPod Game Incompatibility - What Do You Think?
21 September 2007 01:48 EST
Chris Barylick
When Apple's most recent generation of iPods came out on the market less than two weeks ago, buyers came home, as usual, to unwrap the coolest digital media devices on the market.
Unfortunately, many found that after transferring their iTunes content to the devices, games compatible with the third to fifth generation of the iPod were now incompatible with the sixth generation of the device as well as the current iPod nano. Apple's current suggestion has been for users to repurchase the games at US$4.99 each from the iTunes Store, an idea which has brought about its own firestorm of reactions.
We here at O'Grady's PowerPage wanted to know what you have to say about this:
As always, let us know what you think in the comments or forums.

Poll: Regarding the "iPology"
07 September 2007 02:44 EST
Chris Barylick
Throughout the week, Apple announced a US$200 rebate on its iPhone handset, a rebate which wasn't retroactive to users that had purchased the iPhone more than 14 days ago.
The user base had less than favorable things to say about this and in an open letter, Apple CEO Steve Jobs offered both an apology as well as a forthcoming US$100 rebate to its entire iPhone customer base.
Given that the worst of this seems to be over, we want to know what you think about the situation:
If you have any thoughts, feedback or ideas, let us know in the comments or forums.
