PowerBook 1400 G3 Upgrades

Newer Technology and Vimage no longer make PowerBook 1400 G3 upgrades. UpgradeStuff is working to build a card that will probably be a 250MHz G3 with 1MB of backside cache, hopefully using the copper G3 processors. UpgradeStuff reports on the potential availability of a G4:

With the latest G3 processors from IBM, the top end a 1400 can support is 333MHz, and yes, G4 is possible. However, neither really is probable at this point, due to design costs, quality assurance, heat issues, etc. Yes, it would be cool to have a 350MHz G4 in my very own PowerBook 1400, but that’s really a “wouldn’t it be cool” product. Just because you can put a V-8 engine into a Ford Escort doesn’t mean it’s practical to drive around town.
