An Apple publishing article describes the role PowerBook G3s played in sound production for Star Wars: Phantom Menace in fascinating detail. The PowerBook was instrumental in Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR), for which the film was recorded into QuickTime format on a PowerBook G3 300. Chief ADR Recordist Matthew Wood is quoted saying, ‘All of the post-production sound for this project, as well as editorial, was done on Macs.’ and ‘The PowerBook was crucial.” Everyone should read this.
