A PowerBook with camera will come!
My prediction: with iChat 2.0 having video conferencing capabilities at 30 fps I am willing to bet that we will see a PowerBook with a built-in video/still camera at Macworld Expo SF 2004, but perhaps even earlier as this is the year of the PowerBook and Apple needs to drive up volume sales. It may come out before Christmas. The technology has been around for a long time. Sony’s Picturebook that has been quite successful with 60 GB hard disk, camera and impressive video conferencing capabilities. Steve Jobs is making the PowerBook the portable audio-video center of your mobile world. The next iteration will be a built-in tuner so that you can receive TV wherever you go.
Since the 12-inch and 17-inch PowerBook models were just refreshed the venerable 15-inch model is next in line for an update. It is hard to tell if a camera will be added. Bluetooth, Firewire800 and better AirPort antennas are on the docket for the Aluminum PB15 but a camera will probably fall somewhere near the ambient light sensor on the priority list.
