RadTech Accessories Add Style to Your Ride

RadTech makes cool PowerBook accessories. I was introduced to their products with the Wildeepz transparent silicone display cushion upgrade for my TiBook back in March of 2002. Wildeepz did a great job of making my TiBook feel more solid when latched closed by eliminating display chatter against the body of the PB. Wildeepz are available for theTiBook (15-inch) and iBook with models for the PB12 and 17 coming very soon. RadTech’s TiGlide ($US13-15) helped loosen my overly tight TiBook hinges at Macworld Expo NY 2002. Click Read More for the whole story…

With a rich catalog of PowerBook products I am always eager to see what John and company at RadTech had up their sleeves next. Well, a couple of things actually.

RadTech ScreensavRzRadTech’s ScreensavRz are absolute beauties. These microfiber clothes (over 1 million fibers per square inch) are precision laser cut and lay between your PowerBook keyboard and LCD screen when closed. They are very effective at keeping those nasty keyboard marks off your screen.

The new Laptop ScreensavRz models (US$13-18) sport straight lines with nice 1/8″ radiused corners and offer display protection and can be used as a cleaning and refinishing cloth for your screen. Three colors/styles are available: Titanium, Aqua and Shagwire.

RadTech ScreensavRzScreensavRz come in many sizes to fit for all PBs (all laptops actually) and all LCD iMacs. Titanium and Aqua are available plain, or with the following de-bossed logos:

  • “PowerBook” in new Myriad font.
  • “Titanium G4” in old Garamond font.
  • “iBook” in Garamond.
  • “PowerBook G3” in Garamond.

Titanium and Aqua iMac ScreensavRz have “iMac” de-bossed in Garamond font. ScreensavRz can be even custom screen printed, or de-bossed, just email info@radtech.us for customization details.

RadTech PowerSleevzPowerSleevz are gorgeous form-fitting, deluxe sleeve case for your PowerBook G4 or dual-USB iBook that are made from the same Optex 100 percent synthetic ultra-microfiber as the Laptop ScreensavRz. PowerSleevz (US$23-25) are available in the Titanium color only.

  • The 12 and 14-inch iBook model as “iBook” debossed on one side in Garamond font.
  • The 12, 15 and 17-inch PowerBook model has “PowerBook” debossed on one side in new Myriad font.

The reverse side is available for customizing via embroidery, screen printing, or debossing. Email info@radtech.us for customization details. The Sleevz cases are going to get optional handles soon.

Another cool new product is the RadTech Last Stand (photos) a 12mm thick, 13 ounce PowerBook stand that replaces two classes of stands and is completely portable (it fits in your bag easily.) The Last Stand (pricing TBD) has five discreet angles and corresponding display heights and is rock solid, grips the desk firmly, and very easy to pivot as well. Stay tuned to the RadTech site for more details on this cool new stand.

Lastly, a RadTech product that isn’t exactly PowerBook-related per se, but is really cool nonetheless – the eyelighter. A featherweight, ear-mounted, super-bright LED illuminator. If you are familiar with the micro lights that people play with at raves and all night parties, you have seen these before. RadTech has come up with a practical application in using them as a lightweight hands-free light source allowing you to see everything, in total darkness, with both hands free. The white light unit is RadTech’s third best selling product, thanks in part to the US Air Force and Army. Blue and red are in top 10. Pretty cool stuff.

RadTech would like your help, what other products would you like to see them develop? They are toying with designing a bag or pack that would be three nesting bags in one: Sleevz for just toting ‘Book. – fits into – Small case for ‘Book, power brick, discs – maybe phone / iPod. – fits into – Large bag for all of the above plus camera, ext drive, DVCam, books/mags, etc. Since they nest, you can use just what you need. Post your thoughts in the comments.
