Reader Question: Vertical Leap

I’ve noticed some laptop stands (like the LapVantage) on the market for orienting the computer on its side to create a vertical screen. I’m dying to try out the ergonomic and functional advantages of this. But, to my knowledge, Mac OS X does not provide for a vertical vs. horizontal screen orientation. Nor am I aware of any software that currently supports OS X. I’m curious if anyone out there knows otherwise.
