Rogers Wireless to support Wi-Fi calls under iOS 8

If you’re up north and a Rogers customer, this might come in handy once iOS 8 is released.

Per MacNN, Rogers Wireless has announced that it will be supporting iOS 8’s new Wi-Fi calling feature when it debuts. Wi-Fi calling within iOS 8 will skirt the issue of roaming fees while a Canadian user is in the US or overseas, much like over VoIP apps like Skype.

Rogers has stated its customers that use its Rogers One Number service on their computer, tablet or smartphone can already make calls over Wi-Fi.

iOS 8 is expected to be officially released this fall and an early beta has been released to the development community.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
