Rumor: Apple to offer updated Mac mini units this fall

The rumor mill has it that Apple will be updating the Mac mini this fall.

Per Apple guru Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities, in addition to the new iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches we all know are coming, Kuo says, Apple is reportedly planning to update the Mac mini.

As you may remember, the last time the Mac mini was updated was in October of 2014 when Apple added a faster processor, lowered the price and made it less accessible to upgrade. The computer has not been updated since.

While Kuo didn’t offer specifics as to what would be upgraded, this is important in and of itself. In other news, through a random email, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated to an Apple fan late last year that the Mac mini was “an important part of our product line going forward.”

The rest of Apple’s Mac updates appear to be standard refreshes, with the MacBook and MacBook Pro reportedly due for new processors before the year is up.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
