Rumor: iMac Pro could be available for sale as early as Thursday, December 14th

The iMac Pro you’ve been hankering for could go on sale via Apple’s website as early as Tuesday, December 14th, the mighty Phil Schiller having been quoted as saying that a release was coming in “a matter of days.”

The desktop is rumored to be the answer to the professional community’s demands and feature Xeon processors, a 5K display, and include a Radeon Vega GPU, among other extremely high-end specs such as a 10-core CPU and is said to start at a price point of $4,999.

The entry-level model features an 8-core processor with 32 gigabytes of RAM and a 1-terabyte solid-state hard drive. With a 27-inch Retina 5K display, the chassis boasts four Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, four full-size USB 3 ports, an SDXC card slot, and 10Gb Ethernet.

Users can upgrade the RAM to 64 or 128 gigabytes while the SSD is also configurable to 2 or 4 terabytes of storage.

Apple has apparently offered some YouTubers early access to the iMac Pro, in which Marques Brownleee stated that activating Final Cut alone isn’t enough to spin up the fans, which is an encouraging first sign (although Final Cut isn’t as demanding as Premiere, which is much more widely used). The iMac Pro also comes with a black Lightning cable for charging the black keyboard.
Brownlee posted the following video detailing his impressions of the machine:

The general consensus seems to be that the iMac Pro is fast, albeit this might be a tough sell given the price tag.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
