I just received this email from Apple announcing the Grand Opening celebration for their retail store in
”A scene from a rock concert.” That’s how Joe Wilcox of CNET News described the grand opening of the Apple store in McLean, Virginia. “The crowd ? which earlier broke into chants of ‘Apple! Apple! Apple!’ ? roared when the store opened at 10 a.m. EDT.” The same day at the Glendale, California, opening, an estimated 1500 of the Mac faithful were on hand when the doors opened.
Now it’s your turn. Come to the new Apple store in Mall of America this weekend. You can learn to make a movie on a Mac, see how easy it is to burn a CD of your favorite music, or discover how to publish digital photos on your own website. Experience our giant 10-foot (diagonal) screen and step up to the Genius Bar to meet your local Mac Genius.
You can do it all at the grand opening of the new Apple store at Mall of America, this Saturday, Aug. 11, at 9:00 a.m. If you’re one of the first 1000 customers at the grand opening, you’ll get a free Apple shirt.
Update: Confusion: Apple Mall of America Grand Opening Time
I don’t know if Apple plans to clear this up before the 11th, but as ofright now, there is much confusion through the net, with three different openingtimes.
MacNN is reporting, as well as a person on the MacNN forums whoclaims they work at the store, that the doors open at 9am. Go2Mac isreporting about emailed invites from Apple that state 9am. The officialopening time for all stores in the MOA is 9:30am for Saturdays. Thewww.apple.com/retail site states Saturday hours of operation at 10am.
WhenI called the store directly today, I spoke with someone in the Apple Storewho checked and told me 9:30am grand opening. The main point is, Apple.comand the people at the store need to get their ducks in a row, and startreporting an “official, no doubt about it,” time. Or else, we are going tohave some upset Apple fans, who either show up unexpectedly early or laterthan needed.
[Ed: get there early…]
