Sony 'Book for the Outdoorsy Type

Sony’s newest notebook will include a GPS receiver incorporated into a model that weighs less and has a longer battery life. The PCG-C2GPS is slated for release in Japan on 27 November and is targeted toward outdoor use. The 8.9″ display is a reflective polycrystalline silicon LCD for clear pictures even outdoors in strong daylight. Aside from the sleeker design, GPS, display and longer battery life, specifications are the same as the PCG-C1XE model. The GPS receiver is a killer app:

The GPS receiver displays its geographical position on a map when it is used with the PCG-C2GPS. When it is disconnected from the PCG-C2GPS and used independently, the receiver stores position data and is powered by an AA alkaline battery. Users can later check their tracking path, by connecting the receiver to teh PCG-C2GPS and utilizing the stored position data.

Sony has also introduced a portable CD-RW drive.
