This might qualify as “nifty” depending on your travel needs.

Starwood has reached out and stated that the hotel chain will begin supporting the following in 2015 and 2016:

– Mobile, Keyless Check-In: Starwood finally unlocked the nirvana of keyless check-in at hotels by bringing SPG Keyless to market, available in hotels around the world; Marriott, Hilton, and others announced plans to follow in 2015 & 2016 meanwhile by the end of the year keyless access will be available in 30,000 doors across Starwood properties.

– Apple Watch: Developing on emerging, wearable technology including Apple Watch — which we all know is coming right around the corner — and Google Glass to understand how the next-generation traveler is using technology.

– ROBOTS: Testing the future of robots in hospitality with Botlr at Aloft hotels

It’s unspecified as to what the robots will do.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
