On Monday, Apple released its Aperture SlideShow Support Update 1.1 patch, a 3.3 megabyte download which addresses an issue affecting the playback of HD video clips used in Aperture 3 slideshows on Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). Audio and video tracks now remain properly synced in video clips that have been trimmed.

The update can be directly downloaded or located and snagged via Mac OS X’s built-in Software Update feature.

The Aperture SlideShow Support Update 1.1 file requires Mac OS X 10.5 and an Intel-based Mac to install and run.

Late Tuesday, Apple released its ProKit 5.1 update, a 32.4 megabyte download improves general user interface reliability for Apple’s professional applications and is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Final Cut Express HD, Soundtrack, Logic Pro and Logic Express.

The update requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later to install and run and can also be located and installed via Mac OS X’s Software Update feature.

TomTom Home, the company’s free desktop GPS management software, was updated to version 2.7.3.754 Wednesday night. The new version, a 42.5 megabyte download (via VersionTracker), includes the following fixes and changes:

- Fresh look and feel.
- Improved process for installing items to your navigation device.
- HOME now smartly manages internal and external memory on your device and helps you making best use of available space.
- A new Manage my device button now manages content on your device and you computer in one central location.
- Windows 7 compatible.
- Improved stability decreases the chance of error messages.

TomTom Home 2.7.3.754 is available for free and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later to install and run.

iSync plugins, nova media’s shareware iSync extension package for Mac OS X and all-around useful utility that provides access to dozens of cell phones and handsets, received a small update over the weekend. Version 7.1.2.7, a 5.4 megabyte download, adds support for the following cell phone models:

- Nokia 5230
- Nokia 6700 slide
- Nokia X6
- Samsung SGH-D900E
- Sony Ericsson Pureness X5

iSync 7.1.2.7 retails for US$9.95 and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 (under Mac OS X 10.4), Mac OS X 10.5.8 (under Mac OS X 10.5) and Mac OS X 10.6.2 (under Mac OS X 10.6) to install and run.

Per The Unofficial Apple Weblog, myPod Apps’ iPhone Explorer can be installed on your Mac or PC and allows you to view the folder structure, and drag and drop items to or from the iPhone to your desktop or back the other way.

Users can create, delete and rename folders on your iPhone. If your iPhone is jailbroken, they can access the real root and then recover things like your address book, emails and SMS messages.

iPhone Explorer requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later and iTunes 8 or later to install and run.

Google Chrome, Google’s new web browser, just reached version 5.0.307.7 beta for the Mac. The new version, an 18.9 megabyte download, offers the following the following changes:

- Extensions (finally!).
- Bookmark sync.
- Bookmark manager.
- Cookie manager.
- Task manager.
- Support pinch to zoom on the Mac.
- Cmd-three finger swipe opens prev/next page in new tab.

Google Chrome requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later and an Intel-based Mac to install and run.

On Wednesday, Apple released its 2009 Aluminum Keyboard Firmware 1.0 update for the 2009 Apple Wireless Keyboard. The update, a 1.1 megabyte download, improves battery performance of the device when used in combination with other Bluetooth devices. The keyboard must be connected or paired to perform this update. The update package will install an updater application into the Applications/Utilities folder and will launch it automatically.

As always, the update can also be located and snagged via Mac OS X’s Software Update feature.

The updater requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later running on an Intel-based Mac to function.

Getting a bit of a jump on the Macworld releases, peripheral company Wisair on Monday introduced a Wireless USB DisplayDock Set, allowing users to wirelessly connect their MacBooks to a desktop-like setup that include a monitor, speakers, a keyboard and mouse. Per Electronista, the device connects to a USB port on any MacBook and Wisair claims there are no delays in sending the keyboard or mouse commands due to the nature of the ultra wideband radio.

The pre-paired adapters have a 128-bit encrypted link for security, while maximum range is said to be 30 feet. Video tops out at a resolution of 1440×1050.

The Wireless USB DisplayDock Set requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later to install and run. will ship by the end of March, though final pricing has yet to be revealed.

Late Wednesday, shareware developer Maintain released version 4.7 of Cocktail (Snow Leopard Edition), Cocktail, the popular shareware utility program that allows for additional Mac OS X system tests.

The new version, a 2.3 megabyte download, adds the following fixes and changes:

-Adds clearing of Adobe Flash Player caches and cookies, as well as clearing of Google Chrome cookies, form values, history and page icons.

- The update also features overall performance improvements and addresses minor compatibility issues with Mac OS X Server.

Cocktail 4.7 retails for a US$14.95 shareware registration fee and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later to run.

Late Tuesday, Apple released Security Update 2010-001 for its Mac OS X operating systems. The updates, which range between a 21 and 159 megabyte download (depending on operating system), address critical vulnerabilities in the system where hackers and malicious software can take advantage and either compromise the system or steal personal information.

The update requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 or later for the Mac OS X 10.5 operating system and Mac OS X 10.6.2 or later for the Mac OS X 10.6 operating system and can also be located and snagged with Mac OS X’s Software Update feature.
