It looks like you might get the 256GB iPhone you’ve been hankering for.

Late last week, a leaked image corroborated a previous rumor that Apple may be offering a 256GB storage tier for the next-gen iPhone.

In addition to showing a dual-camera module, a series of Weibo images claim to show a 256GB memory chip, suggesting that Apple for the first time will introduce a higher storage variant with the iPhone 7 lineup. What’s notable, though, is that the images show 16GB, 64GB, and 256GB chips, perhaps implying that the 128GB model will be replaced all together with the new 256GB model. Judging by this leak, however, the 16GB model is here to stay.

This is according to Allen Horng, Chairman and Chief Executive of Catcher, a supplier that builds metal casings for Apple’s iPhone line.

Speaking at his company’s annual shareholder meeting, Horng said Apple plans to unveil an iPhone with a glass casing and a metal frame. He said the metal frame for the glass-exterior phone will require “advanced processing technology,” and that it won’t be cheap to manufacture.

The idea of an edge-to-edge screen on the iPhone 7 is a concept at this point.

But it’s a pretty cool concept, you have to admit.

The current rumor has it that the iPhone 7 will sport a very similar look to the iPhone 6s line, an assortment of major form factor changes arriving in 2017. As of late, blogger John Gruber dropped some “scuttlebutt” over on his The Talk Show podcast, the rumors including an edge-to-edge display that eliminates the top and bottom bezels on the device, with the front-facing camera, Touch ID, and other sensors hidden under the display.

The overall iPhone 7 shape and size may just be identical to that found in the iPhone 6s.

A purported sketch obtained by nowhereelse.fr points towards the next-generation smartphone having the same length and width as the iPhone 6s.

The drawing, which has yet to be verified, shows the iPhone 7 has the same 138.3mm (5.44 inches) length and 6.71mm (2.64 inches) width as the iPhone 6s, but the depth of the new smartphone is not listed for comparison.

It looks like Apple is starting the queue up design elements for its A11 processor.

Apple processor supplier TSMC is rumored to be designing an A11 chip that could be manufactured in small quantities as soon as the second quarter of 2017.

Sources have said the chip design is based on the 10-nanometer FinFET process TSMC is still working on. Certification for that process is only expected in the fourth quarter of 2016, and product samples would only be delivered to Apple in the following quarter.

It has to sting when a Chinese clothing company wins the exclusive right to the “IPHONE” name in court.

In a recent statement, Apple has declared that it will appeal a Chinese trademark ruling which saw the company lose exclusive rights to the iPhone name, allowing other Chinese companies to use the name for leather goods products. Obviously, the iPhone is Apple’s cash cow so the initial ruling was a big blow allowing legal dilution of its most-valuable brand.

Apple will take the appeal to the Supreme People’s Court, the highest court in the Chinese law system.

Well, this is a bit awkward.

In a strange turn of events, Apple has lost exclusive rights to the “iPhone” name in China thanks to losing a trademark suit against a Chinese company which now holds the right to make and sell handbags and other leather products branded “IPHONE.”

The Beijing Municipal High People’s Court rejected Apple’s appeal of the trademark dispute against Xintong Tiandi Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. on Mar. 31, state media Legal Daily reported. The final judgement allows the Beijing company to brand leather products including handbags, purses, and cellphone and passport cases with the name “IPHONE.”

Even with declining iPhone sales, the iPhone SE might just prove to be a hit.

A new supply chain rumor has indicated that Apple has increased orders for its new low-end iPhone SE, and plans to build more than 5 million units this quarter alone, as the company continues to struggle to keep up with demand for the 4-inch handset.

The supplies have been constrained since launch and as of Tuesday, predicted shipping times run from two to three weeks on Apple’s web site.

A current rumor has it that the next-gen iPhone may include a slightly larger battery than the current generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. It’s been posted that the handset will ship with a 1735 mAH capacity and iPhone 7 Plus will feature a 2810 mAH battery. On both models, this is slightly more than the current-generation iPhones. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have batteries with 1715 mAH and 2750 man, respectively.

The iPhone 7 is said to share a similar appearance to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models, but incorporate a thinner body and redesigned antennas. A major chassis design change is currently expected for the ‘iPhone 8’ in 2017.
