Even with the iPhone X, which represents the first Apple product with an OLED screen only recently out the door, the company may be working on the next generation of screen technology.

It’s rumored that Apple is working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to develop microLED screens, which could supersede OLED over the next few years.

microLED screens take some of the key benefits of OLED over LCD yet further, offering even greater brightness, color saturation and power efficiency…

Similar to the San Bernadino shooting of almost two years ago, Apple has officially been served with a search warrant for access to the iPhone SE used by the man responsible for the Sutherland Springs, Texas shooting. The move comes after an earlier fumble that saw the Texas Rangers and FBI fail to act within 48 hours to unlock the device in question with Touch ID…

The Texas Rangers served Apple with a warrant to access both David Kelley’s iPhone SE and iCloud account. The Rangers have also expressed interest in a second phone used by Kelley made by LG. Apple stated earlier this month that it contacted law enforcement officials roughly 48 hours after the shooting to see if it could be of any help. During that first 48 hours, when Touch ID would have still been enabled, law enforcement made no efforts to ask Apple for help or to use Touch ID to unlock the phone. Instead, it shipped the device off to a crime lab in Quantico, Virginia.

Because next year’s model is always critical, Apple is said to have three new iPhone models in the works for a late 2018 launch. Two of the new handsets are said to cross the six-inch threshold with edge-to-edge OLED and traditional LCD screens.

Assorted guru and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Industries issued a note to investors on Monday, stating that that Apple has a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone on tap for launch in the second half of 2018. This handset would presumably serve as a sort of “iPhone X Plus,” taking the general size of a Plus-sized iPhone and adding an edge-to-edge OLED display.

Kuo stated that Apple is also working on a new LCD model with a 6.1-inch display. Kuo stated he believes this model will target the low-end and mid-range smartphone markets.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are almost upon us.

That being said, Forbes’ Gordon Kelly has put together a list of shopping tips to help you save this year.

The guide veers away from the Apple Store, which typically doesn’t offer enormous savings, and focuses heavily on Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Kohl’s and Sam’s Club. In the case of Kohl’s, Kelly points out that Kohl’s Cash helps provide additional savings, especially after you’ve spent a given amount of money within the store.

Kelly also points out that there are savings to be had through B&H Photo Video, MacMall, and Newegg.

It looks like Apple may be betting on an augmented reality headset.

The company is said to be working to have the technology ready for an augmented-reality headset in 2019 and could ship a product as early as 2020.

Unlike the current generation of virtual reality headsets that use a smartphone as the engine and screen, Apple’s device will have its own display and run on a new chip and operating system, according to sources close to the story. The development timeline is very aggressive and could still change, said the people, who requested anonymity to speak freely about a private matter.

Warby Parker’s Glasses app for iOS uses iPhone X camera to map your face, recommend glasses for you

Ok, this is pretty neat.

Even if the iPhone X has been out for less than a week, a few apps are already taking advantage of the handset’s face mapping technology.

In the case of glasses retailer Warby Parker, the company is combining its app with the iPhone X’s camera to take maps of people’s faces, and use that data to recommend styles of glasses that will best fit your face. This goes a step beyond the digital try on system the company had previously offered, which made an effort to place a virtual pair of glasses on the user’s face to let them see how they might look.
