TDK Announces New PC Card Modem


TDK today announced the CyberExpress* 5614, a cross-platform PC Card Modem with both K56Flex and V.90 capabilities priced at a low US$119.99:

NEVADA CITY, Calif-(Business Wire) TDK Systems, Inc., a global leader in mobile communication solutions, today introduced the CyberExpress 5614-a new low-cost, full-featured 56K fax/modem PC Card that supports both K56flex and V.90 standards, and works with Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Windows CE, and Apple PowerBook notebook computers.

Priced at just $119.99 (SRP), and built with TDK’s renowned quality and reliability, the versatile CyberExpress 5614 is truly a complete communications solution for today’s mobile PC user. This advanced plug-and-play modem auto-senses between K56flex and V.90 standards, and automati-cally operates at K56flex/V.90 speeds when downloading from a similarly equipped Internet or intranet server. In addition, it supports enhanced V.34 (33.6 Kbps) data transfer for “upstream” operations, and includes standard 14.4 Kbps send/receive fax, data compression and error correction features.

The versatile CyberExpress 5614 also features low power consumption and an automatic sleep mode for extended battery life, and provides onboard Telephone Answering Device (TAD) capa-bilities that allow it to be used as an answering machine with multiple mailboxes.
