According to CNet Mitnick failed to sell his PC laptops on eBay:
Mitnick hopes to replace the laptops with a 17-inch Apple PowerBook. While he continues to play with computers and technology, he stressed that misusing them is something he will never do again.
Woz was happy to come to his rescue:

Woz actually bought Mitnick two PowerBooks. The first one he lent to a friend in the hospital, but he hadn’t yet gotten it back.
