The USDA’s Agricultural Research Service has made its exhaustive nutrient database available for download to personal digital assistants (PDAs). This resource contains information on more than 6,000 foods — from alfalfa sprouts to zwieback — listing calories, vitamins, minerals, protein, carbs, and fat grams for each. The free software takes about a minute to download, runs on the Palm OS, and requires about 2 megabytes of memory. Read more…
