I have a 400 Mhz TiBook. The border of the keyboard half of the computer is bordered by a white/silver metallic band. The part of the band that runs directly under the screen one day seemed to have marks on it. Most of it turned out just to be dust, but then I realized there was blank stuff that looked like ink. After wiping some of it away, I realized that it was in fact the little, “PowerBook G4” text that’s printed on the screen, except it was upside down because that’s how the screen touches the laptop. I can read the “k” very well and I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else.
Yes, this a known issue with the Titanium. The ink that is used to print the “PowerBook G4” text that is on the bottom of the bezel that trims the display has been reported to rub off and to leave a mirrored version of the words just above the F5-F7 keys above the keyboard. In addition to reformulating the paint, Apple is working on a fix for this and other aesthetic issues.
