The Philadelphia PowerBook Users Group (PPUG) will hold its Autumn 2008 meeting on Saturday, 1 November 2008 (tomorrow!). The meeting will take place from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the Manayunk Brewing Company. We usually have lunch (and a brew) while we talk mobile computing.

PPUGers Jason O’Grady (PowerPage.org) and Bob Snow will be on hand to discuss latest announcements from Apple new iPods and iPhone firmware and Apple's new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Additionally, Jason will show you how the new iTunes became a Genius overnight and the joys of (re)discovering your musicall over again.

MLMUG Meeting Wrap Up

I had the opportunity to speak at the Main Line Mac Users Group (MLMUG) this Saturday and had a great time. Some of the topics in my presentation included: iPod Accessories iBoom and iDiddy and a discussion about the possibility of PowerBook speed bumps being announced at Apple Expo in Paris next month. The bulk of my presentation was spent on podcasting, podcasting, podcasting.

PPUG Meeting Postponed

The Manayunk Brewery has been the meetingplace for the Philadelphia PowerBook User Group for many years, but this Saturday is their Annual Brew Extravaganza from 12-4pm and this will premempt the scheduled PPUG meeting. If you visit the Brewery on Saturday, you will have a chance to try over 30 different types of microbrews from breweries all over the country. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door - and they will give you a keepsake tasting glass and access to unlimited sampling! We will try to reschedule the PowerBook meeting as soon as we can. The PowerBook 15-inch FW800 ships with a grounded 65W power supply, whereas previous portables shipped with a 45W ungrounded supply. The old power supplies should not be used on new laptops, but the converse is fine.
