Summer X Games is 15-19 Aug 2002, we mention this because it is coming back to Philadelphia, PA, home of the PowerPage crew. It was a riot last year. (we are looking for developers that may want to help with summerx.com)

5inch.com – Sells pre-designed silkscreened blank cdr’s as well as regular 5″ and 3″ blanks, sets of cdr’s with cases, individual cases, dvd’s, storage items and wearables. Very cool.

Nokia’s New Phones – The Nokia 5510 is a landscape oriented phone that looks more like a GameBoy advance. Operating frequency: EGSM 900/1800, operating on networks in Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The Nokia 7650 features an integrated digital camera, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and GPRS. Too bad it is only EGSM 900/1800 – translation: it won’t work in the U.S. This was written before your editor’s slip into a Bluetooth coma, stay tuned for an update on that.

Lapvantage – manufactures two stands for laptop computers. The portrait edition uses software (no OS X version yet) to flip your display 90 degrees to “scroll less, see more.”

AladdinPower – A small, portable, hand powered, generator/battery charger. Never have a dead cellphone battery again! You can charge up almost anything just by squeezing your hand together – nothing else is needed. The company is also promoting the StepCharger – “With just a few pumps of the StepCharger you can instantly begin to charge your laptop, cell phone, video camera and much more.”

Identix Biotouch fingerprint PC card – it’s unlikely to work with your Mac, but it is a cool sign of things to come. ZDNet rated it a “mixed bag” while the sleek and slim Sony FIU-710 (affectionately known as the “Puppy”) won Editors’ Choice. The Targus Defcon Authenticator gets the PowerPage’s “best name” award. Maybe the next generation of professional Macs with come with some form of built-in biometrics.

Yahoo to Charge for POP Email Services – According to The Register “Users of the service have until April 24 to decided whether to cough up for the service. Yahoo! said it will offer existing users the service for a special promo price of $19.99. The normal fee is $29.99 a year.”
