West Coast Mac-a-palooza: O'Reilly, AES, Remix Hotel, DigiWorld

Geeks! Audio! DJs! Macs! Oh, my. The Mac is all about the Bay Area this week with a huge lineup of events, one Mac-only and three audio-related but with heavy Mac involvement expected:

  • O’Reilly Mac OS X Conference: The geekiest and hippest of the big Mac cons, O’Reilly has tracks for digital audio, system administration, and programming, plus a general Mac track and keynotes by the likes of composer/musician Stewart Copeland.
  • AES: A huge pro audio engineer show that has become increasingly computer-centric and will feature exhibits by many Mac music and audio vendors.
  • Remix Hotel: Remix magazine takes over the SF W Hotel and fills it with leading music products and a long lineup of top DJs. And it’s free.
  • DigiWorld: Digidesign opens up its headquarters to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary. Also free, and includes a free AES pass. Digi and Apple are partnering on all this week’s events, so expect plenty of Macs.
  • I’ll be at all four events in San Francisco; hit comments here if you’re in the Bay Area and want to wrangle some PowerPagers together! I’ll also launch createdigitalmusic.com officially over the weekend (yes, it’s down now); together with the PowerPage I’ll bring ‘team coverage’ of all four events live!
