The My Book drive will ship with EMC Retrospect Express backup software and use its front-mounted blue LED to quickly alert the user as to how much hard drive space remains.
Although relatively new, the eSATA protocol allows transfer speeds of up to three gigabytes per second. Apple has yet to make this standard on any of their machines, but Power Mac and Mac Pro units can gain access to it via third-party expansion cards while firms manufacturing for the Express Card market could open up to allow it for the company’s laptops.
