Why iBooks with Mac OS 8.6?

Several PowerPage readers offer the explanation that since the iBook comes with only 32 MB of RAM, it would be best to have an operating system (8.6) that uses less RAM than Mac OS 9.

iBook users should do themselves a favor and upgrade the iBook’s RAM, because the Mac OS runs much better with more memory. Also, (taking out my crystal ball…) it looks like RAM prices are not going down any time soon because there’s still much pent-up demand following the Taiwan earthquake and because computer sales are continuing to increase with the Christmas shopping season just around the corner.
