Yahoo releases LiveText app, looks to add video to text-based conversations

This is pretty interesting.

Yahoo has released its LiveText app, an app that streams video without audio and allows you to send text, icons and emoji. The thought behind this is that the expressiveness of the video makes the conversation more authentic and adds to the nuances that may be missing from a standard text-based conversation via a device.

The LiveText app has been tested in the Hong Kong, Taiwan and Ireland markets and is being released in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany and France.

LiveText is available for free in the App Store and Google Play Store and requires iOS 8.0 or later to install and run.

If you’ve had a chance to play with the app, let us know what you think in the comments.
