The company is now offering 10,000 and 12,000 BTU window air conditioners with HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Assistant support. These are the first window air conditioners with HomeKit support to be offered in the US.

It looks like Apple will be chasing the high end and could be offering studio-quality over-ear headphones for as early as next year, according to sources close to the story.
The company is said to be working on new AirPods with noise-cancellation and water resistance, the people said. Apple is trying to increase the range that AirPods can work away from an iPhone or iPad, one of the people said. Representatives from several major technology firms will meet in San Francisco on Wednesday to address growing concerns over consumer privacy, driven to the forefront by new European regulations and public uproar over scandals like Cambridge Analytica.
The companies include a part of the Information Technology Industry Council, a Washington trade group, as well as Apple, Facebook, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Qualcomm, and Samsung.
The ITI declined to say which specific companies are attending. Apple though is likely to participate given its industry clout, the stakes involved, and its vocal stance on privacy matters.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of privacy-based concerns on Friday, states that a warrant is required to get cell phone tower location data from carriers. The 5-4 ruling was in a case called Carpenter v. United States, and is thought to be a core ruling that could have sweeping repercussions for decades to come.
The ruling was a somewhat unusual coalition of Justices, with conservative Chief Justice John Roberts being joined by the liberal wing of the court, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. The remaining four Justices each wrote separate dissenting opinions.

After a fair amount of hemming and hawing, Apple has officially acknowledged that there are problems with its “butterfly” mechanism built into the keyboards of the recent MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks. The company is now offering an extended keyboard service program for computers affected by the issue.
The extended warranty covers replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard, depending on the extent of users’ problems, and it covers eligible laptops up to four years after the computer was bought at retail. Each MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook equipped with the keyboard seems to be included. The four year warranty is dramatically longer than the limited warranty the computers ship with or even Apple’s extended AppleCare Plus.
