  • Apple posts full “There’s More in the Making” media event to YouTube

If you missed Apple’s “There’s More in the Making” media event this week, the company has posted it on YouTube. During the two-hour event held in Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday, Apple announced the new iPad Pro with its edge-to-edge display, a much-anticipated new generation of the Mac mini, the new MacBook Air and more.

The event also marks the first time an iPad’s Home button has been replaced with a similar interface to that found on the iPhone X in 2017. The new iPads also feature a USB-C port in place of the traditional Lightning port.

  • Leaked icon hints at updated iPad Pro with no Home button, rounded corners, set for announcement at Apple’s media event in Brooklyn on October 30th

Sometimes it’s the small chunks of a beta that reveal what’s to come in the Apple universe.

In the case of the fifth beta of iOS 12, a discovered icon showed an iPad with no Home button, rounded corners and no notch, but it was a small icon designed to be used in the battery widget.

Late last week, a new icon found within iOS offers a more detailed view of the 2018 iPad Pro, which is expected to be announced during the Tuesday event in Brooklyn. This icon shows an iPad with rounded corners, no Home button and no notch. An interesting aspect of this icon is how large the bezels look when compared to the recent iPhones.

  • Adobe demos full version of Photoshop CC for the iPad, software should be available in 2019

If you’ve been hankering for a full-on version of Adobe Photoshop CC for the iPad, it’ll be along in 2019.

Photoshop CC for iPad has been unveiled at the Adobe MAX conference in Los Angeles Monday morning. Version 1 will ship in 2019, but to hit that deadline it’ll ship with a subset of core features with more rolling out later. Adobe hasn’t said how long it’ll take to get Photoshop CC up to full feature parity with the desktop version.

The company stated that document edits will sync with Creative Cloud in real time so can jump between devices and keep working. Adobe demonstrated a pre-release version to high praise. Layers worked as you’d expect, masks were easy to make, and it apparently felt like Photoshop on the desktop.

  • Up to six forthcoming iPad Pro models hinted at via Appsee log traffic

Additional hints have surfaced as to new iPad Pro models, an app analytics platform claiming to see logs of model identifiers for unreleased models for the tablet, labels that seemingly correlate with other rumors about the 2018 refresh.

Mobile analytics firm Appsee stated that the model identifiers “iPad8,1,” “iPad8,2,” “iPad8,3,” “iPad8,4,” “iPad8,5,” and “iPad8,8” have recently started to appear on its platform. The identifiers first surfaced last Monday, with the identifiers in the latest report joined by two other labels, namely the missing two from the set: “iPad8,6” and “iPad8,7”

Appsee has yet to note any references to “iPad8,6” or “iPad8,7” in its logs, although it may be likely that the models still exist, if not being used in a way that it could be seen by third-party analytics systems.

  • Rumor: iOS 12.1 developer beta 1 hints at new iPad Pro models due this fall

It’s the beta code that sometimes reveals the nifty things down the road.

In this case, the iOS 12.1 developer beta 1 code seems to be hinting at new iPad Pro models en route for this fall. The code shows Face ID in landscape mode is coming, which isn’t possible with any iPhone.

Steve Troughton-Smith, well known for credible leaks and finding new products and features in the beta OS releases, says iOS 12.1 has references to landscape mode support for Face ID, plus external display connections. Troughton-Smith stated that “Face ID has support for landscape orientation (presumably for iPad only), and iOS 12.1 seems to care a lot more about whether an external display is connected.”
