CarPlay will be coming to all 2017 Ford models equipped with the Sync 3 system. Ford has stated that the 2017 Escape, which goes on sale early this year, will be the first to receive CarPlay as well as support Android Auto.
Ford says that CarPlay will also be available as an upgrade to 2016 models later in the year.
It looks like CarPlay-based niftiness will be coming to assorted Hyundai models in 2016.
While Hyundai was among the first car makers to promise CarPlay in its vehicles as a selling point nearly two years ago, the automaker so far hasn’t actually shipped the update to add the feature it promised to customers.
This may change come the new year, as it’s been reported that Hyundai is committing to rolling out an update to add the feature early next year.
If you bought a super-hip 2016 Volvo XC90, it’s now eligible to run Apple’s CarPlay system.
The car maker announced that CarPlay is available to both current and future XC90 crossover owners. Starting today, when you plug your iPhone into the car’s USB Port, part of the Senus touchscreen will transform into CarPlay. Since the XC90 features a large 9.0-inch display, CarPlay only occupies the bottom half of the display. The top half remains the same as to allow users to access required vehicle functions.
