  • Rumor: Apple working with partners to develop wireless charging feature for next-gen iOS devices

    It’s about time for wireless charging to come to your iOS devices.

    That being said, Apple is rumored to be working with partners in the U.S. and Asia to develop new wireless charging technology that could be deployed on its mobile devices as soon as next year, according to sources close to the story.

    Apple is exploring cutting-edge technologies that would allow iPhones and iPads to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones, the sources said, asking to remain anonymous. Apple is apparently looking to overcome technical barriers including loss of power over distance with a decision on implementing the technology still being assessed.

  • Apple adds 2008-2009 Macs, other hardware to “vintage and obsolete” list

    It’s not the easiest news to hear, especially if your product is in the list, but Apple on Tuesday updated its official list of “vintage and obsolete” hardware. This list is used to determine whether or not the company will repair or otherwise support any hardware problems.

    Under Apple definitions, “vintage” products have been out of production for more than five and less than seven years, meaning that limited support may be available in some regions. In California, for instance, Apple is legally required to provide support for Macs, iPhones, and iPods.

  • Apple releases iOS 9.2, watchOS 2.1 and tvOS 9.1 updates

    Today was the day in which pretty much everything Apple got an update.

    Everything.

    Leading the pack, Apple releases iOS 9.2 for its iOS devices. The update, a 272 megabyte download, offers the following fixes and changes:

    – Apple Music improvements.

    – A new Top Stories section in the News app.

    – Mail Drop in the Mail app for sending large attachments.

  • Mozilla releases Firefox for iOS

    If you’ve been hankering for the day Firefox would be available for iOS, it’s finally here.

    Mozilla has announced that its Firefox browser is now available for iOS and can be used on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

    Until today, Firefox for iOS was available as a public preview, and only in New Zealand. Launching first in New Zealand has become a common practice for testing new apps and features on the Web — companies use the country as a test market because it has a small population and English is the primary language.
