Delivery times slip after iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and Apple Watch Series 4 pre-orders go live

Apple’s delivery times for both the iPhone Xs Max and Apple Watch Series 4 devices began to slip after the first hour or so of early-morning pre-orders. At present, many iPhone Xs configurations can be delivered or picked up on September 21st, whereas most iPhone Xs Max configurations are available as early as September 28th, and as late as October 12th. Apple Watch Series 4 slipped to the middle and end of October.

Users reported that the Apple Store’s servers were largely able to handle the demand, albeit some minor issues were reported, such as some AT&T orders not being able to complete and some Apple Pay transactions failing to complete. Overall, through, it appeared to be a much smoother pre-order event for most customers.

While Apple rarely states the specific amount of inventory available at launch, it appeared that early inventories were depleted quickly. Within an hour, delivery times were slipping. Two and a half hour into preorders, it was noted that times had slipped, with an extra week or two here and there on the Australian front.

The iPhone Xs units appeared to be the most readily available units. Silver, Space Gray, and Gold iPhone Xs models for AT&T were still available for pickup and delivery on September 21st, with some models showing September 28th – October 5th.

Verizon and Sprint availability was similar, while T-Mobile devices were showing a week later.

The iPhone Xs Max unit deliveries seemed to have slipped to mid-October for deliveries, albeit pickups were still available for September 21st. The same was true for most carriers and finishes.

Where the Apple Watch Series 4 is concerned, all models checked showed delivery times in the middle of October.

It’s expected that delivery times could slip even more, but should arrive as predicted. Last year, Apple tended to hit the early part of their date range, and in many cases, beat the expected delivery estimates.

If you’ve pre-ordered an iPhone Xs or Apple Watch Series 4 unit and have any feedback to report about the delivery dates, please let us know what you think if the comments.
