Analyst predicts iPhone 14 Pro models could see price increases compared to iPhone 13 Pro models

Apple is apparently planning to increase the prices of two of its iPhone 14 Pro models compared the the current iPhone 13 Pro models.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Kuo noted that the average selling price of the iPhone 14 lineup as a whole will increase by about 15% compared to the iPhone 13 lineup.

In the United States, the iPhone 13 Pro begins to retail around $999 with the iPhone 13 Pro Max starting around $1,099. Should a 10 percent price increase apply to the iPhone 14 Pro models, the iPhone 14 Pro could start at $1,099, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max could start at $1,199.

At present, the exact price increase for these models has yet to be released.

Key new features rumored for the iPhone 14 Pro models include a new pill-shaped cutout and hole replacing the notch, a faster A16 chip, an upgraded 48-megapixel rear camera lens with support for 8K video recording, and an always-on display that shows the time, date, battery percentage, and iOS 16’s new Lock Screen widgets.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14 lineup in September as usual.

  • Analyst: iPhone 14 series’ supply chain, mass production, and shipment schedules currently on track

Analyst: iPhone 14 series’ supply chain, mass production, and shipment schedules currently on track

Per noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it seems as if the forthcoming iPhone 14 models aren’t facing impacts on the supply chain as both mass production and shipment schedules are currently on track.

Last week, the analyst reported that Apple would start iPhone 14 production simultaneously in India and China as Apple has warned its suppliers about a possible “revenge” by the Chinese government against the United States after the controversial visit of the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.

Pelosi and others had held meetings with some of Apple’s suppliers, including chipmaker TSMC and Taiwanese assembler Pegatron. Since then, there have been reports as to China blocking shipments from these companies. Kuo has stated that these actions won’t impact iPhone 14 production or schedule.

Kuo also offered the following comments as to possible iPhone 14 delays due to component shortages as well as quality issues:

Although some investors have recently worried that the mass production and shipment schedule of the iPhone 14 models may be affected by geopolitics, my latest survey indicates that there are currently no impacts on the supply chain of the iPhone 14 models.

It’s currently thought that the iPhone 14 series will be the star of Apple’s September event. The iPhone 14 series, especially the Pro models, are expected to feature a new design, a better processor, and huge improvements on the camera’s side.

  • Apple expands supplier base, seems to have brought in SG Micro to make components for iPhone 14 models

Apple expands supplier base, seems to have brought in SG Micro to make components for iPhone 14 models

Apple has recently expanded its list of suppliers, adding SG Micro. Per noted Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the company’s components have passed Apple’s quality certification and might supply essential components for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14.

Kuo recently tweeted that SG Micro components will be used for some high-end iPhone 14 models upon their release. It’s thought that the company could supply components for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

SG Micro specializes in integrated circuitry, and could provide the power management integrated circuitry of the high-end iPhone 14 models. Kuo mentioned that this will be the first time that SG Micro has supplied components for higher-end products to Apple.

Via the inclusion of SG Micro, Apple would have a steady supply of components for the high-end iPhone 14 models. This could also offer a safety net given more shortages of components in the future. Kuo has predicted that Apple’s supply chain will continue to grow.

The iPhone 14 models are expected to be released in September.

  • Analyst: Global supply chain issues probably won’t affect iPhone 14 launch this fall

Analyst: Global supply chain issues probably won’t affect iPhone 14 launch this fall

Although some iPhone 14 component suppliers are facing supply chain issues, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has expressed the opinion that these issues will have a limited impact on upcoming mass production of iPhone 14 models, which are expected to be announced in September.

In a recent tweet, Kuo stated that other suppliers can help to make up for component shortages. Kuo said that Samsung Display and BOE can largely fill the initial gap supply gap caused by LG Display’s issues with the appearance of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max display panels. Kuo also stated that it should not take much time for LG Display to address the issue.

Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup this year is expected to include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
