  • Adobe Reader, Acrobat Pro updated to 11.0.02, add security fixes

    You can’t argue with a security update…

    On Wednesday, Adobe released version 11.0.02 of its Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro applications. The updates, which can also be snagged through the Adobe Update Utility, add the following fixes and changes:

    – This full installer provides mitigation for specific security issues. For additional release details, see the Release Notes.

    Acrobat Reader 11.0.02 and Acrobat Pro 11.0.02 require an Intel-based processor and Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later to install and run.

    On Monday, Adobe released version 11.0.01 of its Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro applications. The updates, which can also be snagged through the Adobe Update Utility, add the following fixes and changes:

    – Latest release. This is a regular quarterly update that provides security mitigations, feature enhancements, and bug fixes.

    Acrobat Reader 11.0.01 and Acrobat Pro 11.0.01 require an Intel-based processor and Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later to install and run.

  • Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat Pro updated to 11.0

    On Monday, Adobe released version 11.0 of its Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro applications. The updates, which can also be snagged through the Adobe Update Utility, add the following fixes and changes:

    – Get forms signed by others: Email your signed PDF form, or send it to others to e-sign using the Adobe EchoSign(R) online service from within Reader XI. Just open a free or paid account.

    Improved:
    – Comment using the PDF annotator Reader XI comes with a full set of commenting tools. So you can add sticky notes, highlight text, and use lines, shapes, stamps, and a typewriter tool to place comments anywhere on your PDF document.

    – Fill out forms Say goodbye to paper forms. Type your responses right on the PDF form, or click through and fill in the form fields. Then save and submit. That’s really all there is to it.

    Acrobat Reader 11.0 and Acrobat Pro 11.0 require an Intel-based processor and Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later to install and run.

  • Apple releases Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10, Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 5

    Late Tuesday, Apple released a pair of Java updates for its Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 operating systems. The updates (Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10 and Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 5) make the same changes and per Macworld, offer “improved compatibility, security, and reliability.” The specifics on how the updates do this are unclear, however, as the release notes for both the 10.6 and 10.5 updates are a little light on the details.

    Both updates are available via direct download from their respective web sites or via Mac OS X’s Software Update feature.

    The updates require Mac OS X 10.5.8 and Mac OS X 10.6.4 to install and run, respectively.

  • Apple releases Safari 5.0.4 update

    Yes, you were freaking out with joy as Apple released its iOS 4.3 updates yesterday.

    And then you celebrated by arranging for your siamese cat to legally marry your basset hound, despite the confused expressions on their faces.

    Amidst all this, Apple released Safari 5.0.4, an update to its web browser with the following fixes and new features:

    – Improved stability for webpages with multiple instances of plug-in content.

    – Improved compatibility with webpages with image reflections and transition effects.

    – A fix for an issue that could cause some webpages to print with incorrect layouts.

    – A fix for an issue that could cause content to display incorrectly on webpages with plug-ins.

    – A fix for an issue that could cause a Screen Saver to appear while video is playing in Safari.

    – Improved compatibility with VoiceOver on webpages with text input areas and lists with selectable items.

    – Improved stability when using VoiceOver.

    Safari 5.0.4 is available on Mac OS X via Software Update or via direct download from Apple and requires Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later to install and run.
