  • Some iPhone SE users complain of Bluetooth audio issues, Apple has yet to offer official comment

    Well, this could be one for the bug team to sort out.

    A number of oPhone SE early adopters have reported audio issues with Bluetooth phone calls when the smartphone is paired with a vehicle or wireless headset. The issue extends to GPS voice navigation for some, but streaming music over Bluetooth appears to be unaffected.

    The users claimed to be experiencing distorted, staticky, or inaudible phone calls when using an iPhone SE over Bluetooth. Many of those affected noted that their previous iPhone model had “crystal clear” audio quality.

  • Apple releases server-side patch to Siri bug allowing access to photos, contacts under iOS 9.3.1

    A Siri-based vulnerability that allowed access to a user’s photos and contacts under the right conditions under iOS 9.3.1 has been patched server-side by Apple.

    Shared recently by Jose Rodriguez, the vulnerability used Siri’s ability to access Twitter to find an email link or phone number, which could be pressed to open up an editable list of contacts even on a device that was locked. Through access to contacts, a user’s full photo library was also visible.

    The vulnerability relied on Siri to perform a Twitter search and could give direct access to photos and contacts/ The method appears to have been disabled on all devices as of today.

  • Security hole in iOS 9.3.1 could offer access passcode-free access to photos, contacts under certain conditions

    If you’re running iOS 9.3.1 and gave Siri access to your Twitter information as well as yourContacts or Photos, this is something worth looking into.

    A video surfaced online yesterday purporting to show a vulnerability in iOS 9.3.1 that allows anyone to access photos and contacts on a locked iPhone without having to enter a passcode.

    The YouTube video, uploaded by Jose Rodriguez, depicts a user performing a Siri search followed by a series of relatively simple steps, one of which involves 3D Touch, limiting the exploit to iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices.

  • Apple releases iOS 9.3.1 update, looks to fix iOS 9 link crashes

    Following more than a week of uproar regarding the universal links bugs, Apple released iOS 9.3.1 on Thursday. The update looks to repair a web link crashing issue that has affecting many iOS 9 users.

    The update is available as an over-the-air update for all iOS 9 users and it can also be downloaded through iTunes. Shortly after iOS 9.3 was released, a number of iPhone and iPad users found Safari, Mail, Messages, Notes, Chrome and some other pre-installed and third-party apps would crash or freeze after tapping or long pressing on a web link. While most users affected were on iOS 9.3, some customers on earlier versions of iOS also complained of crashing problems.

  • QuarkXPress 9.3.1 update released

    On Thursday, software developer Quark released version 9.3.1 of its QuarkXPress design application. The 1.1 gigabyte update, which can be downloaded here (thanks to MacUpdate), adds the following change:

    – Includes an installer/updater that is compatible with the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Gatekeeper feature. This release is not compatible with QPS 9.2.

    QuarkXPress 9.3.1 requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.8 later to install and retails for US$799.00 for the full version.
