Apple adds Theft and Loss protection to AppleCare+ plans in UK, Australia

If you’re across the pond or down under, this is going to come in handy.

Amongst the new products introduced at Apple’s “California Streaming” event on Tuesday were changes to the company’s AppleCare+ policy which has added Theft and Loss coverage to the United Kingdom and Australia.

The UK and Australia join some states in the United States as well as Japan and Germany that have Theft and Loss coverage. Announced in 2018, alongside the iPhone Xs line, it included everything that the standard AppleCare+ plan for iPhone covers.

“AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss includes up to two incidents of accidental damage, theft, or loss coverage,” explains Apple.

In the United Kingdom, AppleCare+ with theft and loss coverage retails for £11.99 a month or £239 per year, with an additional excess fee of £109 to replace an ‌iPhone. In Australia, the service costs $15.99 per month or $319 per year, with an additional $229 for specific incidents.

Users will need to have the Find My iPhone feature enabled on their devices after they’ve been lost or stolen to access their coverage.

If you’re in the US, the following are the prices of services fees after you purchase AppleCare+:

  • Screen or back glass damage: $29.00
  • Any other accidental damage: $99.00
  • Theft or loss: $149.00

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
