Apple releases AirPort Base Station 7.8.1 firmware for 802.11n AirPort Extreme, Express, and Time Capsule units

Apple may have stopped making its AirPort wireless routers, but has just released a new firmware update for its 802.11n AirPort Extreme as well as its sibling Express and Time Capsule models.

The company has released the following notes for firmware update version 7.8.1, which was released late last week:

Firmware update 7.8.1 improves the security of your base station and is recommended for all Apple 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule.

The update can be located, downloaded, and installed via the AirPort Utility application in Applications -> Utilities.

If you’re tried the new firmware and have any feedback to offer, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
