AppleCare Love Stories

Recently I sold a PowerBook (Pismo) to a co-worker who had had enough of being “preached to” about the joys of Mac ownership and decided to make the switch. After a little over month, he did something very, very bad. The power cord to his external hard drive strangely fits nicely into the S-video plug. Obviously not paying attention, he inadvertedly plugged the power cord into the S-video. Immediately he fried the monitor.

It turns out that I had purchased Applecare almost 3 years to the day (in fact, it was to run out 2 days later). On a whim he called Apple and they quickly sent a box to him by the next morning (Friday). By Monday he had received word that Apple graciously fixed the monitor without cost. I just wanted to take a moment to thank Apple for their customer support. Yeah, they are a big business, yeah, they make dumb mistakes . . . but there are countless times that they remember that we, the customer, are the reason they exist. Thanks Apple . . . can I have a 17″ Powerbook?:-D
