Apple's Mystery Announcement: The Spoiler!{From PowerPage}

Apple will make a Special Announcement tomorrow at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT) live from the Flint Center in Cupertino, CA. Apple’s Web site has a suitably vague note about the event:

Apple Interim CEO Steve Jobs will host a special Apple event in Cupertino Tuesday morning, Oct 5. Come back to this page to see the show live with QuickTime 4.

The consensus at NoBeige is that Apple is will announce a next generation iMac featuring: faster G3 processors, DVD-ROM, FireWire ports, larger screens, a more translucent case, and larger RAM and hard drives.

The PowerPage has entertained several conspiracy theories over the past weeks about “what else” Apple may have up it’s sleeve for tomorrow’s announcement. Here are some options:

  • Apple PDA – code named MacMate – Several interesting things happened today that piqued our interest. 1) Palm announced the nationwide availability of their Palm VII wireless PDA early this morning, and 2) Palm announced the availability of their Mac Desktop 2.5 software, a major upgrade, after the 4 pm close of the U.S. stock market.

    If you stop to think about the significance of the timing of the announcements, combined with Steve Job’s well documented fetish for Palm-powered devices, things start to take shape for a potential Apple/Palm OEM announcement tomorrow. PowerPage likelihood index: 99%, Reason: Just call us optimists. 🙂
