Beddit to shut down cloud service on November 15th, Apple thought to be incorporating company’s technologies into its product line following acquisition

Here lies the fate of Beddit.

Sleep tracking product company Beddit, which Apple acquired last year. is officially killing off its cloud service on November 15, 2018. As of Friday, September 21st, new users were unable to sign up for Beddit Cloud.

In addition, existing users have until November 15, 2018 to use it before the Beddit Cloud service will completely stop functioning.

Users who are wanting to use the app can continue to do so, but everything will be saved locally.

After the update, any sleep data you have stored locally on your iOS device and in your device backups depending on your backup preferences, will continue to be available.

Beddit apparently didn’t release any new products, apps, or services following its acquisition by Apple. As such, it’s theorized that Apple is working to integrate Beddit’s technologies into the Apple Watch and/or the iPhone. There isn’t much evidence as to where Apple stands with these goals, and Apple’s largest hurdle is likely extending battery life on the Apple Watch.

Apple still sells the Beddit 3 Sleep Monitor hardware, but Friday’s change suggests the product is winding down before being folded in to Apple.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
