I am completely mortified with my experiences with a new Casio Exilim EX-Z55 digital camera. The first thing I tried to do was take pictures with it using a brand new SanDisk 1GB SD card. Following are the details of my post on the Apple Discussion boards:
iPhoto 5.0.1 won’t import my photos from a SanDisk 1GB SD card in my new Casio Exilim EX-Z55 digital camera. I tried another brand-new SanDisk card and got the same error in iPhoto for all the images:
Unreadable Files.
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).
/private/tmp/501/TemoraryItems/iPhoto/CIMG0001.JPG
/private/tmp/501/TemoraryItems/iPhoto/CIMG0002.JPG
etc.
I tried importing photos two ways:
a) with the camera docked and connected to my PowerBook via USB, and
b) with the SD card in a SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter (Model: SDAD-67)
I have tried
– two different (brand new) SanDisk 1GB SD cards
– the SD cards fresh out of the box
– formatting the SD card in the camera
What’s weird is that I only get the error when importing photos from the SD card. If I remove the SD card and shoot only onto the camera’s 9MB of built-in memory (it holds about 5 pix), then those transfer fine into iPhoto 5.0.1.
One thought: I having only tried the (standard) blue SanDisk SD card. Not their “extreme” line or any other manufacturer’s SD card. Could this be the issue?
Has anyone out there used a SanDisk 1GB SD card with a Casio Exilim digicam? Anyone else experienced similar problems importing photos into iPhoto?
