The cool cats at iFixit have completed and posted their full teardown of the long-awaited 5K iMac Pro and discovered the following nifty features and components:

– The iMac Pro features a massive dual fan cooler to help keep the CPU and GPU cool. The computer is also notably quiet, even when performing intensive operations that would send a standard cooling fan into overdrive.

– The lack of a full sized desktop hard drive allows for additional space inside the iMac pro for additional components.

– The 5K iMac lacks an external RAM door, which made for easy RAM upgrades on previous model iMacs.

It’ll be 169 clams for AppleCare+ coverage for your new iMac Pro.

Apple has announced that AppleCare+, which extends your iMac Pro’s warranty from one to three years, will retail for $169. This is cheaper than the AppleCare+ policy for an iPhone X and also reduces the cost of some repairs. If you have a Mac notebook and the display fails, for example, AppleCare+ more than pays for itself.

There’s a timeline for the release of the iMac Pro you might be hankering for.

The iMac Pro’s 8 and 10-core models will be available this week while the high-end 18-core iMac Pro will ship early next year, alongside an unannounced 14-core model that will apparently be added to the lineup for a total of four Intel Xeon processor configurations.

In early testing, the 10-core iMac Pro clocked in at 3.0GHz with a Geekbench score just over 37,400. This puts the computer at 93 percent faster than the latest 27-inch 5K iMac and up to 45 percent faster than the high-end 2013 Mac Pro.
