They hoped for the iMac to fail, and then they jumped on the bandwagon as soon as it didn’t. These days, PC manufacturers are starting to realize that people like it when you make more aspects of their computing experience fun. Enter Intel’s fashion show in February, in which Intel’s fruit-flavored space people danced around with concept computers from a number of developers:

“About 50 percent of the US population hasn’t bought their first computer yet,” [Intel spokesman] Sullivan said. “What’s it going to take to get them into the market? We think combining easy-to-use technology with a look that’s exciting is the key.”
