IBM Takes Linux Step

On Wednesday, computing giant IBM announced plans to offer the Linux operating system on its line of ThinkPad computers. IBM’s ThinkPad 600E becomes the first mobile computer certified by Red Hat Software to run its Red Hat Linux 6.0 operating system. The 600E was chosen as the first in the ThinkPad line to receive Linux compatibility because of the notebook’s success in the areas of power and performance.
