We all knew this was coming, but it appears that most major retailers in the United States are completely sold out of iPods – at least in the popular (and less expensive) colors and configurations. But don’t fret just yet, with a little patience and some flexibility you’ll be able to find an iPod by Christmas.
The PowerPage called several retailers in our area (in this case, Willow Grove, PA) about iPod availability and the following are the results:
Best Buy – sold out, maybe Tuesday?
BestBuy.com – sold out of minis, 20GB & 40GB,
BestBuy.com – has U2 edition, Photo 40, Photo 60
Circuit City – got some in today, but sold them all
CircuitCity.com – sold out of iPod 20 and iPod minis (except silver)
CircuitCity.com – has iPod 40, U2, Photo 40, Photo 60
Apple.com – is currently offering most iPods including the 20, 40, Photo 40, 60 and U2 with “estimated ship time of 1-3 business days.” In fact all the minis are listed as “1-3 business day” except for the gold mini which is “3-5 business days.”
Ordering from Apple might be tight for Christmas, be sure to check their holiday shipping policies. You may want to try your walk up retail options instead, just remember to call first.
