Lombard Speed Bump in the Wings?

PowerPage veterans will remember our previous mention of the possibility of a Lombard speed bump that would appear in time for this month’s Macworld Expo New York 1999. While common sense would dictate that Apple has their hands full with the P1 project, a simple speed bump of the CPU clock speed is conceivable.

The label above appeared on an early Lombard test mule and it clearly shows a check box for a 433 MHz CPU. While it probably only indicates that the faster chips were used in some test models, it does show that the faster clock speed is viable – which should be a surprise to no one.
