Mac OS 9 Installer & Old Speech Software

Several PowerPage readers and one unlucky PowerPage editor have tried installing Mac OS 9 over their old systems with varying degrees of success. One reader couldn’t use his Apple DVD Player until he disabled speech recognition. Another reader tells us that the Mac OS 9 installer doesn’t install the latest version of Apple’s Speech Recognition over the old version, so you should make sure to run the Mac OS 9 custom installation and explicitly tell the installer to install Speech Recognition.

As for the unlucky PowerPage editor, he was last seen attempting a clean install.
