More Than Just Blootooth From Sony Ericsson

I urge you to check the information recently posted by Sony Ericsson regarding new products to be introduced at the CeBIT trade show (Hannover, Germany), March 12-18. Some interesting add-ons to the already famous T610 and P800 mobile camera/phones/palmtop are:

  • The incredible Z1010 UMTS(3G)/GSM-GPRS mobile phone, with twin cameras, 68k colors 176 x 220 pixels TFT display (plus external display), Multimedia (streaming and download), MP3/MPEG4 media player, VGA and Video Call (where UMTS/3G is available) camera, Memory Stick Duo, MMS, Java 2 Micro Edition, long range (100 meters) Bluetooth together with USB and infrared to both PC and Mac, WAP 2.0 supporting XHTML; for more details, check out the Z1010 white paper.
  • The Bluetooth Music Handsfree HBM-30 wireless handsfree/digital music (MP3/ATRAC3) player, with automatic pause for incoming calls.
  • The Bluetooth Car Handsfree HBC-30 in-car call handling

More details on the SE announcements can be found on the SE Web site.

On the sad side, few details worth mentioning:

  • Only Memory Stick Duo (max 128k) on P800, Z1010 and HBM-30, while no sign of the new Memory Stick Pro (max 1 Giga) already implemented by Sony on several new Cyber-shot digital cameras; think of the Z1010 (or possibly the P800) as an ideal MPEG4 (and possibly DiVX) pocket movie player (an average full feature movie in such formats is apx 750 Mega, perfect for a Memory Stick Pro)
  • Free Sony Ericsson Image Editor software is for PC only;
  • Free Sony Ericsson MMS Home Studio software is for PC only.

Good job to PowerPage and ciao from Rome, Italy.
