MacNN reader Noah Sager notes that Apple’s new 12-inch PowerBook G4 features a new midrange audio speaker. An AppleCare document expands on the technology: “The PowerBook G4 (12-inch) is the first portable computer made by Apple to have a midrange-enhancing speaker. The midrange-enhancing is designed to produce a separate channel of midrange sound. There are no settings in the Sound system preference to adjust just the midrange speaker.” It is not currently clear if the new 17-inch PowerBook also features this technology, or if it is exclusive to the 12-inch unit.
