Outta Site! Go2Mac adds Features

Have you ever taken a system, developed by numerous different developers (piecemeal) over the course of several years and attempted to port it to another platform? It’s not funny, it’s not fun.

That is exactly what we did with Go2Mac.com in May. Bowing to your never ending pressure to ditch our Windows NT hosting solution we made the gargantuan leap of faith to a totally Mac OS-based hosting solution with the help of the gurus at Danger Island.

Danger Island are a bunch of cool people and they host our site in the same rack as the servers for Pearl Jam. Now THAT is cool!

When they aren’t doing cool eCommerce development for one of my favorite bands, they find time to do development for Go2Mac too – and I have a small progress report.

First, the long-awaited contact page is now up and running. It ain’t pretty (yet) but it does allow you to email us right from the site without having to fire up your email client. It also allows anonymity if you don’t want to send us your email address. Hehe…

But before you rush off to fire us a well thought out email, you may want to consider posting your email to the BETA version of the Go2Mac.com Newswire. The Newswire allows you to submit stories for consideration on Go2Mac.com. The BETA Newswire doesn’t have cool things like notification (yet), so you may also want to drop me a line to let me know that you have posted a story.

On the docket for the next round of upgrades:

+ importing more historical stories (~6000 to go…)
+ importing the articles database (beta tomorrow?)
+ adding comments, feedback to individual stories
+ adding a registration/membership page (top secret)
+ the triumphant return of Larceny 2.0

As always, I would like to hear what YOU want from the site, so kick the tires on the new contact page and let me know the deal!

Thank you for your continued support

P.S. I am celebrating Independance Day by taking tomorrow off to drink beer, cook out, and to practice Off-Axis Backside 360s on the wakeboard in preparation for Summer X in Philly this August.
